Jay Farrar soldiers on with Son Volt Mark II, the all-new lineup assembled for 2005's Okemah and the Melody of Riot, on The Search. That it opens with a tune called "The Hearse" is a sure sign that perpetually bummed-out Farrar hasn't cheered up since his folk project Gob Iron last year, though The Search is sure to rock at least a little harder.
