Hendrie is a feature documentary on the legendary talk-radio comic legend Phil Hendrie with a particular focus on The Phil Hendrie Show, which existed from 1990 to 2006 in various markets. The film chronicles the life of a radio personality that dared to satirize the very medium he was part of, using a distinct and innovative method that hasn't been attempted before or since. Some of the funniest and most interesting names in show business weigh in including: Bill Hader, Judd Apatow, Kevin Pollak, Henry Rollins, Dana Gould, Wayne Federman and many others. The film is narrated by the aforementioned guests, and Phil himself as he drives through the streets of his hometown Oxnard California in a long black 1976 Cadillac Eldorado. In addition to these storytelling vehicles, Hendrie also employs creative character animation to help the audience relate to this mostly sonic medium. This documentary is a compelling story about sticking to one's artistic vision through a good amount of controversy and difficulty, but also a film that's truly funny - made so by the brilliance of Hendrie's unique brand of off-the-wall comedy.
